Don’t we all love hearing this?

Christmas is a festival that has traveled the world and made every place it’s beloved home. Christmas may have started as a festival to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ by Christians, but today every religion celebrates it. Such is the spirit of Christmas and the happiness it gives to everyone. I wonder the Magi thought about this when they followed the star to meet Jesus.

For instance, the city of Joy, the place of GoDial’s birth gears up weeks before to celebrate this festival hard. Cakes are baked and sold around the city in heaps. Even the beloved Rosogolla becomes jealous, for she comes in Nolen Gur at this time of the year. Santa Clause dolls and Christmas trees are sold by a Muslim and bought by a Hindu in New Market. Making Jesus’s sacrifice in removing hatred and bringing everyone together, a grand success.

Kolkata is not the only one, the entire country puts on their Crimson Santa Caps and makes this festival a grand success. Truly Christmas is no more about the birth of a man who gave his life to wash off our sins, it now is an emotion, a happy one. That brings everyone together.

Despite this being the year where a virus brought our lives to a standstill, we have successfully not let it ruin the spirit of Christmas. We have put on masks and sanitized our bodies so that we get to celebrate this beautiful day. I am sure, Jesus in turn is sanitizing our souls with kindness. This pandemic has brought us closer than before.

But then again, Jesus can not do everything, and we have to be cautious. So be careful when you put on your Santa hat, let Santa in only and not Covid.

Let this Christmas be the one where we follow Jesus’s words to the core and make this world a better place for his words say,

“Come, you are my friend, don’t be afraid, don’t put me on the altar. Give me a place in your heart. See me in everyone you see around you. Love everyone as much as I love you. Or as much as you love me. Share that with everyone else.”
